Adaptive Re-Use of Historic Building - Concept Design
Alexandria, VA
JMc Architects was engaged by a local developer interested in purchasing and converting an historic building into a mixed-use complex. The ground floor and basement level were proposed for a restaurant and arcade-style entertainment facility with the upper floor configured for short-term rental apartments. The rooftop level contains a
new outdoor terrace and extension of the restaurant along with space for exterior mechanical equipment and an extension of second exist stair from the building interior. Preliminary design concept was coordinated with the Alexandria Board of Architectural Review and Planning & Zoning Department.
